Lady Wildcats are upset in SubDistrict title contest

WAYNE — A great season came to an abrupt end for the Hartington Lady Wildcat volleyball team here last week.

Hartington rolled together one of its best seasons in years, and it looked liked the Lady Cats were ready to make a run at the State Tournament.

Lady Wildcats top Osmond for L&C Tny title

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats picked up the first-place trophy in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tourney last week.

The Hartington girls dominated Osmond to claim the team title.

The Lady Cats went on to pick up their 14th straight win of the season Monday night in SubDistrict play by defeating Pender.

Hartington girls survive battle of Wildcats

HARTINGTON — Hartington continues to roll through the 2012 volleyball season.

The Lady Wildcats earned wins over Homer and Winside during action Monday in the Lewis and Clark Conference volleyball tournament.

Hartington defeated Homer in the first contest, then endured their second straight five-set marathon against Winside.

Hartington girls win Wildcat Tourney

HARTINGTON  — The Hartington Lady Wildcats kept the hardware in town Saturday.

HPS hosted the annual Wildcat Tourney, topping all competitors to claim the championship trophy.

“The girls played aggressive all day and stayed in control at the net at all times,” Coach Julie Schreiber said.”Hard work all season helped us win this tournament.”

Lady Wildcats pick up 12th victory of 2012

HARTINGTON  — The Hartington Lady Wildcats picked up two more wins last week to improve to  12-5 on the year.

Hartington earned a four-set win  over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Oct. 3, then topped Allen in three straight sets last Thursday.

Lady Trojans split with MidStates foes

WEST POINT — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans had the unenviable task of having to battle a good team on a roll on their home court.

The result was a loss to MidState rival West Point Guardian Angels in a nail-biter.

Cedar also hosted conference foe Battle Creek last week, earning an easy three-set victory.

The West Point squad had luck on their side.

Hartington girls surprise Osmond

OSMOND  — The Hartington Lady Wildcats improved to 8-4 with a  pair of big conference road wins last week.

Hartington is undefeated in the Lewis and Clark Conference with a perfect 4-0 mark, defeating Bloomfield in three sets last Tuesday, then topping Osmond in four sets on Thursday.

The Lady Cats traded points evenly throughout most of the match in the first game against Bloomfield, eventually pulling out the 25-22 decision.

Hartington girls stumble at Creighton Tny.

CREIGHTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats fell to 6-4 on the year after dropping a pair of games at Saturday’s Creighton Tournament.

Hartington opened the week in fine fashion, defeating Wynot here in Lewis and Clark Conference action.

The Lady Cats couldn’t keep that momentum going, though, and lost Saturday to West Holt and Ewing. Hartington did manage to pull out a two-set win over Creighton on Saturday, though.

Lady Cats get the new volleyball season underway

WYNOT — The Hartington Lady Wildcats started the new volleyball season off with a split during triangular action here Thursday.

The Lady Cats went on the road Saturday, competing in the always-tough Howells Tournament.

On Thursday, the Lady Cats fell in three sets to Crofton, 11-25, 25,20, 22-25. Despite the loss, Michaela Dendinger was solid at the net for the Lady Cats, slamming home 11 kills in the contest. Courtney Hochstein set up the Hartington offense on the night, handing out 18 set assists.

HPS girls are honored

HARTINGTON – Four Hartington Public School volleyball team members were honored recently with All Conference recognition.
Junior Middle hitter Micheala Dendinger and setter Courtney Hochstein both earned First Team Lewis and Clark Conference All Conference honors.
Junior Left hitter Shelby Hochstein and libero Ashley Morten both earned All Conference Honorable Mention honors.
