HPS Lady Wildcats put together win streak

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats have now won seven of their last 10 games on the year.
The Lady Cats won five straight until falling to Wynot Saturday during the Hartington Invitational.
Hartington now boasts a 10-13 record on the year.
HPS defeated Randolph Monday, then topped Ponca and Newcastle here Thursday in a triangular.

Winside wins battle of Wildcats

WINSIDE — The Winside Widcats put a three-set defeat on Hartington’s Wildcats during Lewis and Clark Conference action here Tuesday.

Hartington hung right with Winside in the first set before  losing 22-25 at the end. The Red Cats then posted 25-11, 25-14 wins over the Purple Cats to close out the match.

Hartington now stands at 10-14 on the year with only the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament left on the regular season schedule.

Michaela Dendinger paced the Hartington offense on the night, slamming down 11 kills at Winside. Megan Wolfe set her up with 11 assists in the contest.

Courtney Hochstein led the HPS defense with 11 digs.

Lady Cats now on three game win streak

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats picked up three games this week to improve to 8-12 on the year.

HPS defeated Randolph Monday, then topped Ponca and Newcastle here Thursday in a triangular.

The Lady Cats will host the Hartington Tournament Saturday.

Hartington opened Thursday’s triangular with a 25-21, 25-9 thumping of Ponca.

“This was a great start to our Triangular,” Hartington coach Julie Schreiber said. “We had a great mix betwen our older and younger girls in this one.”

Hartington junior Michaela Dendinger paced the team at the net with nine kills. Senior Taylor Dybdal slammed five kills down.

Ashley Morten paced the defense with 22 digs, while Shelby Hochstein and Michaela Dendinger led the team at the net with 20 and 16 kills, respectively.

Hartington fell in four sets to state-rated Laurel-Concord/Coleridge Tuesday night. The Lady Cats then fell to Allen Thursday.

The Purple Pride earned a three-set win over Plainview here Thursday for their second straight win. The Lady Cats picked up a two-set win against Wausa in Tuesday’s Hartington triangular.

Lady Cats split pair

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats split a pair of games during a triangular here Tuesday.

Hartington forced Wakefield to score 30 points before the Maroon Trojans finally earned the two-set win. The Lady Cats came back strong in their second game to earn the 25-9, 25-17 win over Wausa.

In the win over Wausa, Michaela Dendinger dominated at the net, slamming home 10 kills.

The Hartington offense was led in the contest by Dendinger’s four blocks and a dig. Shelby Hochstein paced the back court with four digs in the contest.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats defeated Bloomfield here Tuesday to earn their third win of the season.

Hartington got off to a slow start, losing 25-20 in the first set, but quickly turned things around in the second set for the 25-9 win.

The Lady Cats continued to roll in the third set, winning 25-10. Hartington then closed out the contest with a 25-19 third-set win.

Hochstein sets new standard in Wausa win

WAUSA — The Lady Wildcats fell behind early, but bounced back strong to earn a four-set win over Wausa here Tuesday.
The win was keyed by the record-setting serving of freshman Shelby Hochstein.
Hochstein fired 12 ace serves over the net against the Lady Vikings. Her effort tied the 2010 school record set by Kassydi Jueden.

Wynot girls top HPS, Newcastle

WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils opened the 2011 volleyball season with a sweep of the competition.
The Lady Devils opened the season with a three set – 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 win over Newcastle. Wynot then  topped Hartington 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.
