LCC athletes compete at State Meet

OMAHA — The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge track team sent seven athletes to Omaha last week to compete in the Class C State Track Meet at Burke Stadium. Brett Haisch was the lone Bear qualifying, while the Lady Bears were represented by five competitors and one relay alternate.

LCC sophomore Ellie Arduser turned in the most impressive weekend of all the local athletes, competing in four events and picking up three medals at the elite state meet.

The LCC speedster earned a trip to the 200-meter finals with a time of 26.46 and a second-place finish in her Friday heat. She then ran the 200 finals on Saturday, earning a fifth-place medal.

LCC athletes qualify for State Track meet in Omaha

HARTINGTON—The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge girls’ track team has competed short-handed all season long, and still managed to finish in the top half of the team standings in almost every meet this year.

The Lady Bears did just that at the District C-6 Track Meet in Hartington Thursday, finishing third out of eight teams competing, with a combined team score of 98.

The district championship, which was decided in the last event, went to Cedar Catholic, finishing with 121.5, edging out Crofton by 1.5 points.

In total, LCC came away from the meet with four individual athletes and two relay teams that qualified for the 2013 NSAA State Track Meet.

LCC girls just miss out on NENAC title

LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge boys’ track team came in fourth out of seven teams in their final appearance in the NENAC Conference track meet with a combined team score of 62. West Holt won the conference with a score of 180.

The Bears had one individual conference champion as Dillan Wolfgram had his best mark of the season in the triple jump, finishing at 40’1/2” to take first place. LCC also won the 4×100-meter relay with a season-best time of 45.8 seconds.

Arduser leads LCC girls at Norfolk; Lady Bears are second at Randolph

NORFOLK—The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge Bears sent athletes from both the boys’ and girls’ teams to Norfolk Thursday to compete in the elite Northeast Nebraska Track Classic at Norfolk High School.

For the girls’ team, sophomore Ellie Arduser was the top individual performer as she placed second in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 12.4 seconds. Arduser also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.1 seconds.

LCC girls earn several golds to claim invite title

LAUREL —  The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge girls took home the team title at last Tuesday’s Laurel Invite.

On the girls’ side, LCC finished with a combined team score of 108 to edge Pender by just eight points for first place overall.

Sophomore Ellie Arduser won the triple jump with a mark of 33’6” and the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 13.0 seconds. She was also part of two gold medal winning relays.

LCC girls are second at Homer

HOMER—The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge girls’ track team  finished second out of 10 teams competing at the Ivan Krumwiede Invite last Thursday.

As a team, the Lady Bears finished with 81 points which was 23 points behind first-place Oakland-Craig.

Sadie Petersen took home first place in the 1,600-meter run (6:03.7) and the 3,200-meter run (12:50.4) while Ellie Arduser won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.0 seconds.

LCC track teams open season with fourth-place finishes

WAYNE —The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge boys and girls track teams opened up competition for 2013 on an overcast afternoon in Wayne. The L-C/C Relays, which were originally set to take place in Laurel, were moved to Wayne High School.

The L-C/C girls finished fourth out of six teams competing with 77 points overall. Wayne placed first in both girls and boys team scoring with 177 points and 160 points respectively.

Pritchard earns silver at State Track Meet

OMAHA — Amy Pritchard finished her high school career with a silver medal at the State Track Meet last week.
Pritchard earned runner-up honors in the triple jump at the Class C State Meet at Burke High School here. Pritchard’s jump of 36’ 8-1/3” also breaks her own school record. Paige Hervert of Kearney Catholic was the only athlete able to best Pritchard, laying down a jump of 37’7-1/2” to earn gold.
Pritchard’s effort earned eight team points for the Bears, who finished the State Meet in 24th place.
Fillmore Central ran away with the team title by racking up 81 points. Crofton was the best area finisher, taking  eighth.

LCC will send 10 athletes to State Track

HARTINGTON — It seems as though the outcome is becoming common — LCC sending track athletes to the State Meet.
The script read according to plan last Thursday as LCC had automatic qualifiers in eight events. The first and second place finishers in all individual events qualify for the State Meet, while only the first place relay teams get automatic bids.
As Friday progressed, three more individuals learned that they were given wild card bids to compete at Burke High School in Omaha this weekend.

Lady Bears earn second, boys fifth at Randolph

RANDOLPH — The Laurel-Concord/Coleridge track teams headed down Highway 20 to compete in the Randolph Invitational last Monday. The Lady Bears snagged second place overall and the boys took home fifth, while Crofton swept both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
For the girls, Crofton scored a total of 155 points, followed by Laurel-Concord/Coleridge with 117 and Ponca with 83.5. For the boys, Crofton scored a total of 128 points, followed by Randolph with 116 and Ponca with 90. LCC had 47.
