Randolph girls end Hartington’s season

WAUSA — The Randolph Lady Cardinals put an end to Hartington’s girls’ basketball season in last week’s  SubDistrict quarter final game, stopping the Lady Cats by a decisive 56-35 score.

The Lady Cardinals used a big 24-9 third-quarter scoring eruption to pick up some breathing room and made the lead stand up in the final period as they advanced to play Emerson-Hubbard for the SubDistrict title.

Lady Cards fight tough battle with Lady Bears, lose in NENAC Championship game

CREIGHTON — The Randolph Lady Cardinals had the Laurel Lady Bears down early and held the lead for three quarters of the championship game of NENAC conference tournament Thursday night at Creighton, but could not hold the lead in the final quarter as Laurel would outscore the Lady Cards 15-10 in the final period and earned the championship hardware with the 37-33 win.

Emily Schnoor led all scorers with 14 points and Michaela Strathman contributed 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Kirsten Fink would lead the Lady Cards in rebounding with 10.

Randolph Lady Cards pick up 10th win of the year

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Lady Cardinals picked up their 10th win of the season against a scrappy Warrior team from Neligh-Oakdale Thursday night, with just four losses.

The Lady Cardinals were finally able to shake a stubborn Warriors team when in the fourth quarter four steals by Emily Schnoor changed the momemtum of the game in Randolph’s favor and they earned a 53-39 NENAC win.

Lady Cards down the Lady Vikings with ease

Randolph — The Randolph Lady Cardinals ran their season record to 9-4 as they easily dispatched the Wausa Lady Vikings Friday night.

A big 23-2 second quarter run quickly help put the game in the win column as Randolph rolled to a 66-27 win.

Randolph girls pull away in second half

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Lady Wildcats hosted the Randolph Lady Cardinals Monday.

Hartington was able to hang with the Cardinals in the first half but Randolph would get some big three-point shots to fall in the second half and they hit their free throws down the stretch to pull away to the 66-48 win.

Brenna Thies had a big night for the Lady Cardinals as she hit a pair of three-pointers on her way to 22 points. Michaela Strathman got 13 of her 19 points from the freethrow line and was a big factor down the stretch.

Lady Cardinals put two more victories in ‘W’ column

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Lady Cardinals kept their winning streak going on Friday night as they destroyed the Lady Falcons by a lopsided 70-29 score.

All 14 girls saw action in this one as it was a real team effort put forward by the gals in red.

Lady Cards defeat Lady Indians, Lady Bears

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Lady Cardinals earned a win over the feisty Ponca Lady Indians Dec 6.

The Lady Cardinals pushed out to a 17-7 early first quarter lead and then extended it to 33-17 at the half. Randolph was able to maintain the lead the rest of way for the 55-39 win.

Lady Cards lose battle to Osmond TIgers

OSMOND — The Randolph Lady Cardinals opened up the 2012-2013 basketball season with a hard fought 68-56 loss to the Osmond Lady Tigers Thursday.

The win gave the Tigers revenge for last year’s Sub-District final in which the Lady Cardinals knocked the Lady Tigers out of post-season play. Osmond would take an early lead in this one and the Lady Cardinals hung with them after that but were unable to dig themselves out and took the 12 point loss.

RHS girls surprise the state-rated Lady Tigers

PIERCE — The Randolph Lady Cardinals are making a habit of pulling upsets.

Randolph upset state-rated Laurel-Concord/Coleridge in the NENAC Tourney, then pulled another big surprise in the SubDistrict title game here Thursday.

The Lady Cards earned the D1-5 Subdistrict title with a 57-51 win over Osmond.

Randoph ends Lady Cats’ season in SubDistricts

PIERCE — The Hartington Lady Wildcats saw their season come to an end Tuesday at the hands of the Randolph Lady Cardinals.

Randolph would jumped out to a 28-11 first-half lead and held off any rally hopes of the Lady Cats in the second half as they advanced in SubDistrict action to play Osmond in the next round with the 57-35 win.

Hartington finished the season with an 8-12 record.
