Lady Vikes go 1-1 at District Tournament to end season

PLAINVIEW — Last Tuesday night, the Wausa Lady Vikings traveled to Plainview for the D-7 volleyball sub-district tournament. In a thrilling game one, Wausa defeated Elkhorn Valley in five sets17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, and 16-14. In game two, Wausa was defeated by Osmond in three sets 25-15, 25-17, and 25-20.

Lady Vikings fall in Conference Tournament action

HARTINGTON — Last Monday was the first round of the Lewis and Clark Conference Volleyball Tournament.

Wausa Traveled to Hartington to take on Winside in first round action.

Winside defeated Wausa 25-13, 25-13, and 25-14.

Lady Vikings are runners-up in Knox Co. tourney

CROFTON — Last week the Wausa Lady Vikings finished runner-up at the Knox County Volleyball tournament held in Crofton. In first round action, the Lady Vikings defeated Santee in two sets 25-14 and 25-12. In the semi-final round, Wausa would play Creighton and seek to avenge an earlier loss to the Lady Bulldogs back in Sept. The Lady Vikings came out on fire and never looked back as they led from start to finish in both sets defeating Creighton 25-18 and 25-16. In the finals, Wausa would take on a very strong Crofton team who advanced to the finals by defeating Bloomfield in semi-final action. In set one, Crofton defeated Wausa 25-18 but not before the Lady Vikings made a strong finish at the end but came up short. In set 2, it was the strong attacking front row that would eventually be tough to stop as Crofton defeated Wausa 25-7.

Lady Vikings defeated by Wynot at Pink Out battle

OSMOND — Last week the Lady Vikings traveled to Osmond on Tuesday and then finished the regular season Thursday as they hosted Wynot for Parents night and Pink Out night.

Tuesday, Wausa was defeated by Osmond in straight sets 25-14, 25-13, and 25-18.

Thursday Wausa played host to Wynot and were defeated 25-4, 25-16, and 25-12.

Coach sees improvement in Lady Vikes at Clearwater

CLEARWATER — Last Thursday, the Wausa Lady Vikings traveled to Clearwater for triangular volleyball action. In game one, Wausa was defeated by Orchard-Clearwater 20-25, and 25-27. In game two, Chambers-Wheeler Central defeated the Lady Vikings 21-25 and 15-25.

Lady Vikes win one, lose three last week

WAKEFIELD — Last week the Lady Vikings Volleyball squad traveled to Wakefield Tuesday and to Orchard Thursday for triangular volleyball action. Tuesday, Wausa ran into a brick wall in Wakefield as the Lady Trojans defeated Wausa 25-11 and 25-13. In game two, Wausa took on Hartington for the second meeting of the season. In a game that was back and forth, Hartington would prevail in the end 25-18 and 25-17.

Lady Vikings topped by Winside, Creighton

WINSIDE — Last week, the Lady Vikings were defeated by Winside and Creighton in volleyball action. Winside defeated Wausa 25-19, 25-17, and 25-16. Against Creighton Wausa jumped out to a 25-17 win in set one, but were unable to convert in the next three sets as Creighton would win sets two, three, and four 25-18, 25-19, and 25-18 to win the match.

Lady Vikings pick up second win of the season

WAUSA — Last week, the Wausa Lady Vikings picked up their second win of the season by defeating Santee in straight sets 25-7 and 25-15 in a triangular held at the home facility. Earlier in the week, the Lady Vikings were defeated by Bloomfield 25-22, 25-18, and 25-15. In the second game of the triangular Thursday, Wausa would play Randolph for the first time in several years. In set one, Wausa battled to a 26-24 win with both teams trading side-outs back and forth. In sets 2 and 3, Randolph defeated Wausa 25-20 and 25-20 in what was the best match our girls have played all season. Friday, Wausa played host to Lynch. The Lady Eagles defeated Wausa 3-2 with scores 25-18, 10-25, 25-10, 21-25, and 15-10.

Lady Vikings drop games to Hartington, Allen and Bloomfield

HARTINGTON — Last week, the Lady Vikings dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play as they were defeated by Hartington, Allen, and Bloomfield. At Hartington Tuesday, Wausa showed that they could play with the best teams in the area as they gave the Lady Wildcats all they wanted in the first two sets (25-19 and 25-22). In set three, Hartington took off and never looked back and went on to win set three, 25-10. Thursday at Bloomfield, Wausa played Allen in game two of the triangular. Allen defeated Wausa in two sets 25-12 and 25-12. In game three, Bloomfield defeated Wausa 25-20 and 25-22.

Lady Vikings open season with one win, one loss

WINSIDE — Last Thursday, the Lady Viking volleyball team opened the 2012 season with a triangular with Winside and Elkhorn Valley.

In game one the Lady Vikings defeated Elkhorn Valley 25-17, 15-25, and 25-23 to pick up their first win.

Leading the way for the Wausa offensively was senior Abbi Hegge with 8 kills on 19/23 hitting, followed by sophomore Tori Clausen with 5 kills on 10/12 hitting and setter Gabby Swanson chalked up 15 assists on 57/61 setting attempts.
