Lady Vikings collect two straight wins

WAUSA — The Wausa Lady Vikings picked up their second straight win, beating Winside by eight points at home.
The Lady Vikings outscored Winside 11-0 in the fourth quarter.
Abbi Hegge scored 12 points to lead the Vikings.
Shelby Lienemann finished with 12 points to lead Winside.

State-rated Vikings just keep on winning

WAUSA — The Wausa Vikings kept steam-rolling foes last week.
The state-rated Vikings improved to 12-4 with big wins over Newcastle, Allen and Winside last week.
The Vikes started the week off with a  huge 73-23 win over Newcastle.
Wausa then beat Allen 61-23 on Thursday night.

Randolph matmen compete at NENAC, Neligh

CREIGHTON — The Randolph wrestlers traveled Thursday to participate in the NENAC Conference Dual Tournament.
The tournament is seeded based on total wins by your team.  After the first round, the top four teams and the bottom four teams wrestle in a round-robin format.
Randolph was paired up with Neligh-Oakdale to start the tournament.  We then wrestled Laurel-CC, Creighton, and Elkhorn Valley in the bottom round-robin.
Randolph had seven wrestlers participate in the Duals.

Cardinals pick up two more big wins

RANDOLPH — The Cardinals improved to 10-3 on the year with a pair of big wins last week.
The Cards easily doubled up NENAC foe Neligh-Oakdale, 56-25 Friday, then topped Wakefield 39-20 in a defensive battle on Saturday.
Against Neligh, Grant Anderson nailed yet another double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

LCC Boys lose three games in four days

HARTINGTON – The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears were in Hartington to play Hartington Public last Tuesday. Both teams played hard in a close game, but HPS got away with the exciting 48-45 win.
Laurel-Concord/Coleridge got balanced scoring and put three players in double figures led by Zach Shear with 14 points, Daniel Hartnett had 12 points and Kyle Kardel finished with a 10 point effort.
Hartington started out slowly in the opening quarter and LCC got four points from Zach Shear as the Bears took an early 7-4 lead.

Local wrestlers compete at Madison Invitational

MADISON — The Hartington Cedar Catholic wrestling team had a tough night at the Madison Invitational Friday.
Andrew Lorenz, Austin Koch and Luke Burbach did not compete at the meet.
Three Cedar wrestlers were able to earn wins, but no local wrestlers picked up medals at the always-tough meet.
Senior Tyler Loberg went down to 182 pounds to compete in the meet.

Big wins push the Lady Devils to 15-2

WYNOT — The Gayville-Volin Lady Raiders had their coldest shooting night of the season when they played host to the red hot Wynot Lady Blue Devils on Thursday night. The Blue Devils dominate all aspects of this game as they rolled over the Lady Raiders 51-9.

Lady Trojans top Creighton, fall to Jays

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic returned to its homecourt last week for two big games.
The Lady Trojans defeated Creighton 61-50 then fell to state-rated West Point Guardian Angels, 69-41.
Cedar Catholic Coach Jason Folkers said his team was very confident and aggressive against Creighton.

Wynot boys claim two more big wins

WYNOT —  The Wynot Blue Devils kept up their winning ways going strong last week with two more victories.
On Tuesday Wynot picked up another Lewis and Clark Conference win over the Allen Eagles.
Wynot jumped out to a 14-6 first-quarter margin and then exploded for 24 second-quarter points to put some distance between themselves and the Eagles and finished the visitors off 67-38.

Wildcats stop Bears, but fall to the Bees

HARTINGTON  – The Hartington Wildcats split a pair of basketball games last week.
On Tuesday they hosted the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears and came away with an exciting 48-45 win.
Then on Friday, they traveled to Bloomfield in Lewis and Clark Conference action. The Cats dominated early against the Bees, but saw the game slip away at the end as they took the 41-36 loss.
