WAUSA — The Lady Wildcats fell behind early, but bounced back strong to earn a four-set win over Wausa here Tuesday.
The win was keyed by the record-setting serving of freshman Shelby Hochstein.
Hochstein fired 12 ace serves over the net against the Lady Vikings. Her effort tied the 2010 school record set by Kassydi Jueden.

“She just did a great job of hitting her spots,” Hartington Coach Julie Schreiber said. “For a freshman, we were really pleased with the way she stepped up.”
Wausa came out fired up for the contest and raced out to a 25-17 first-set win.
Hartington bounced back in the second set to earn the 25-19 decision. Coach Schreiber’s team really poured it on in the third set to earn the big 25-11 win, then coasted to a 25-17 decision in the fourth to earn the win.
“Aggressive scoring, solid blocking and a solid offense led us to this nice win,” Coach Schreiber said. “We played very good defense against Wausa, which helped us to be offensively strong.”
