L-C/C XC Runners get best times of season
O’NEILL — Last Friday, while the rest of the school was getting ready for the big Homecoming Football game, the L-C/C Cross Country Team headed west to participate in the O’Neill Invitational.
Although no one medaled for the Bears, head coach Megan Meyer was pleased with her runners on the first bitter cold day of the season.
“O’Neill has always been a big race in terms of numbers and is always a great chance for us to test our skills against some of the top runners in our conference and district,” said Meyer, “I was really impressed with each of my runners as they all clocked their best times of the season.”
Sammie Camenzind placed the best of all L-C/C runners at 18th with a time of 17:57. Chris Heydon led the boy’s team in 35th and recorded a time of 20:33. Adam Haahr, 40th – 20:50, Tyler Schindler, 44th – 21:26, Gabe Abts, 48th – 21:55, and Aaron Colwell, 55th – 23:00, rounded out the boy’s team. Sadie Petersen was unable to run due to illness.
The Bears head to the Crofton Cross Country Invitational on Friday. The races begin at 4:20 and Meyer expects tough competition but strong performances from her runners.
