HPS Lady Wildcats pick up pair of wins

HARTINGTON — Hartington earned a pair of wins last week to improve to 5-10 on the year.
The Purple Pride earned a three-set win over Plainview here Thursday for their second straight win. The Lady Cats picked up a two-set win against Wausa in Tuesday’s Hartington triangular.

Megan Wolfe and Courtney Hochstein combined for 26 set assists to anchor the Wildcat offense in Thursday’s win. Michaela Dendinger was the main beneficiary of their efforts as she slammed home 11 kills.
Coach Julie Schreiber said her team was aided to the win by playing mistake-free ball.
”This was a well-played game for us with very few errors,” she said. “The setters did a great job of setting up our hitters and we had great team digging on defense.”

In the win over Wausa, HPS hung a 25-9 setback on the Lady Vikings in the first set, then had to battle a bit harder in the second set to earn the 25-17 decision.

HPS got off to a poor start in its first game of Tuesday’s triangular, but put the offense back together to push Wakefield to 30 points, before falling.
Michaela Dendinger paced the team at the net, slamming down 10 kills.
