LAUREL — For the NENAC Volleyball semifinal match last Tuesday, the Laurel-Concord/Coleridge Lady Bears conducted business as usual in their match against the Neligh-Oakdale Lady Warriors. The LCC Netters won in straight sets, 25-14; 25-14; 25-23; and advanced to the conference final.

Jade Cunningham, Audrey Kastrup, Mandy Nelson and Amy Pritchard led the team to their second win in two nights. On the offensive side, Cunningham, Nelson and Pritchard went 16, nine and seven in kills. Nelson and Cunningham each had double-digit totals for set assists.
Kastrup anchored the back row with 12 digs, but Cunningham and Pritchard added nine and seven. Cunningham and Dani Huss kept the Lady Warrior attack off balance with two solo blocks apiece.
“The girls worked hard to stay in system and keep the pressure on [Neligh-Oakdale],” said head coach Patti Cunningham, “They also found ways to maintain a lead, to come from behind, and to overcome adversity.”

TILDEN — Going into the match as the clear favorites for the NENAC crown, the LCC Volleyball team came out flat and suffered a crucial loss last Friday. The West Holt Lady Huskies had the Lady Bears’ number from the opening serve as they won in straight sets, 22-25; 21-25; 12-25.
“We struggled passing the ball off the serve and were out of synch on most plays,” said head coach Patti Cunningham, “This led to tentative play and timing issues on blocks and attacks. West Holt remained aggressive and we didn’t respond.”
The big hitters for LCC were held to low totals on offense. Cunningham and Pritchard only had nine kills each. Cunningham and Nelson had 21 set assists between them, but it wasn’t enough to get the Lady Bears rolling.
Defensively, seven players had digs and four players had at least one block. Cunningham, Kastrup and Pritchard went nine, nine, eight in dig totals, while Pritchard led the squad with 2 solo blocks.
