NORFOLK —  Defense was on display here last week.
The Cardinals came out on the short end of a 38-24 contest against Lutheran High Northeast.
The Eagles flexed their defensive muscle early, holding the Cards to just four first-quarter points, while putting up 10 of their own.
Both teams hit for six points in the second frame, as the Eagles took a 16-10 lead into the locker room at the break.

The Eagles again stepped up their defensive game in the second half, outscoring the Big Red 17-4 in the third quarter to take a 33-14 lead into the final frame.
Despite the loss, Randolph Coach Mark Anderson saw some good things from his team.
“Our intensity and focus was excellent on the defensive end and our rebounding was OK,” he said.
There are some things the team needs to work on, he said.
“Offensively, we struggled from the field which probably was the result of not getting enough quality shots,” he said. “Lutheran High played good defense that night so that was a factor.
Coach Anderson said his team can learn from this loss.
“Tough games like this will help us down the road as well as playing a quality team also does,” he said.
